Music is an important part of student life at Franklin. Each fall we have a choir that 3-5th graders can join, and in winter, a choir for K-2nd grade. All the children from kindergarten to 5th grade visit Mrs. Sandstrom's classroom each week for music instruction.

Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Choir

Starting in January it's the K - 2 choir, same time same day as the Intermediate choir. Sign up now on 6crickets! For more information about this choir, and their performance in the spring, please visit the K - 2 choir page.

3rd to 5th Grade Choir

JOIN THE CHOIR! Our choir meets Tuesdays at 8:00 am from September 12th to December 12th and we put on a wonderful Winter Concert.  Learn more on the Intermediate Choir page. Sign-up is now closed.

A note from Mrs. Sandstrom:

Every child at Franklin gets 60 minutes of music each week.  Each grade level will perform at least once throughout the school year. The performance may be during the school day or in the evening. I will send out information for upcoming performances, so look out for update emails. When we are not getting ready for a concert, classes will be working on the performance arts including singing, dancing, drama, reading music, playing cooperative music games and learning how to play various instruments. Kinder and 1st grades will play percussion instruments, 2nd grades work with xylophones, 3rd grade learns recorders, 4th and 5th work with congas and ukuleles.

Music is an effort based class. Students are not graded on musical ability. However, musical abilities tend to directly correlate to the effort given during class. Music grades will be reported once each month on Skyward. If you have questions about grading, feel free to email me.

I’m happy to be back with my Franklin family! Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you have throughout the year.
